Concert – Audience Appreciation – Free Concert – 10/27/2019

Choir:  Kantorei

Date & Time:  10/27/2019,  03:00 pm

Kantorei, the Minnesota-based a cappella choral ensemble, begins its 2019-2020 season with a FREE Audience Appreciation Concert at

3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 at
Church of Christ the King
5029 Zenith Ave. S.,
Minneapolis

This concert provides a sampling of music that is part of the choir’s 2019-20 literature. Kantorei will premiere “Sing to Me,” composed by Minnesotan David Evan Thomas and commissioned by Kantorei as a gift to Founder-Director Axel Theimer, celebrating 30 years of Kantorei.

Other selections to be part of the program include compositions by Melissa Dunphy, Herman Strategier, Matthew Emery, Gerald Finzi, Ernst Friedrich Richter and Stacey V. Gibbs’ arrangement of “Rise Up Shepherd”.

In 2020 we are celebrating Edwin Fissinger’s 100th birthday. Kantorei will pay a special tribute to this Midwest composer who currently does not seem to receive the recognition it deserves. His arrangement of The Morning Trumpet will be on the Audience Appreciation program. Other titles will be part of our May 2020 concerts.
