The North Suburban Chorus, an un-auditioned chorus of 40+ seniors (ages 60-90) based in Roseville, MN, seeks Music Director for weekly rehearsals and 55 to 60 performances (fifty minutes in length) per year August through June (July is off.) Rehearsals are held on Friday afternoons and 95 percent of our performances are scheduled on weekday afternoons as well. Our mission is to bring happiness, enjoyment and memories to as many individuals as possible through musical performances for senior housing, assisted living, health care facilities and senior clubs throughout the five-county metro area.
We sing SATB jazz standards, swing, Broadway and pop from choral companies such as Hal Leonard, Alfred, Belwin and Shawnee Press. Additionally, the library includes some patriotic music as well as a limited number of sacred or spiritual pieces. The director is responsible for compiling a varied program for a fifty minute performance. The director may also audition soloists and small groups for inclusion in performances.
Job requirements: Education and experience in directing choirs of mixed voices (SATB) in secondary education or other choral settings. Knowledge of music from the 1930s to 1980s in the styles noted above is preferred. The director should have the ability to compile a varied and interesting program that is appealing to our senior audiences as well as the ability to work cohesively with NSC volunteer leadership.
The North Suburban Chorus is a 501 (c) (3) organization and the director signs on as an Independent Contractor.
