As I enter my final year of undergrad in vocal music education, I feel prepared, nervous, and excited for what lies ahead. Being a part of the student conductor workshop and conference at MN ACDA Summer Dialogue was just what I needed to inspire me and encourage me as I prepare for a semester of student teaching and entering the field as a music educator in the coming year. I had a great time getting to know some of my soon to be colleagues, and we had fun and learned lots in the workshop and even got to showcase our gesture and collaborate with some of Minnesota’s finest choral humans. Summer Dialogue is about choral music, but more importantly, how we celebrate and nurture humanity with others through music-making. A huge thanks to ACDA-MN, the FMC Endowment Committee, and Gateway Travel, who values and supports this calling, and Minnesota’s young musicians and future educators. I’m thankful to have been a part of this experience and hope that many others will continue to do the same.As I enter my final year of undergrad in vocal music education, I feel prepared, nervous, and excited for what lies ahead. I want to say thank you to ACDA-MN, the FMC Endowment committee, and Gateway Travel for sponsoring my experience at ACDA Summer Dialogue 2024. Not only was the conducting workshop beneficial to my conducting craft and future career, but being supported by many people to be able to attend for the full week was equally influential and valuable. Getting time to learn in a new environment from new people is extremely important in a young conductor/teacher education, and I really appreciate the experience I was able to have thanks to all the supporters of ACDA-MN.
