The recipient of the Advocate for Choral Excellence Award for the Southeast District of ACDA-MN is Constance Goslar.
Constance Goslar retired as the choral accompanist and collaborator at Owatonna High School this May. She served as an accompanist in the Owatonna School District since the fall of 1982. Constance has worked with the Owatonna Choirs under the direction of Roger Tenney, Al Zinter, Chris Harris, Brandon Berger, and Paula Asmus, accompanying for daily rehearsals and performances from 1982-2000 and again from 2011-2024. She has accompanied for Solo and Ensemble Contest and other performances for Owatonna students every year since 1982. Constance also served as an accompanist at St. Olaf for 25 years where she accompanied for junior/senior recitals and student juries.
Constance Goslar has been an incredible music educator that has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of students within Southern Minnesota. Students describe her as kind, funny, and relatable. They say she is also down to earth and realistic, putting things in perspective to ensure student success.
Constance Goslar has frequently said “My joy has been making music with all these fine young people. We are all students of music, one of us has just been a student a lot longer.”
Congratulations to Constance Goslar on her ACE Award, a well deserved recognition for an icon in the southern Minnesota choral community for over 40 years. Thank you for everything you’ve done to advocate for choral music, music education, and students.
