Ok . . . go with me. If you teach, if you lead a community ensemble, then you have singers who wish to never sing religious music at the holidays (yes, even in the land of Lutheran and Catholic prevalence). While there is some initial humor in the piece, the text bring the listener to a place where all the matters at the holidays is that you know you can come home to a place where you are loved and where you belong. Every human thirsts for belonging, and this piece will speak to that need. This piece is decidedly pop, and Charlie Beale is a leader in pop music arranging, especially for larger choral ensembles.
