JOB TITLE: Collaborative Pianist (Junior Varsity and Training Choirs*)


The Collaborative Pianist is responsible for accompanying the Junior Varsity and the Training Choir. This person teaches group piano lessons and works with the artistic director and associate artistic directors in carrying out these duties and the overall musical and social development of the choirboys.


As a Collaborative Pianist: this person attends the rehearsals and accompanies the choirs as each Monday. This person is responsible for the accompanying while on tour and run outs.
As Group Piano Lesson Instructor: this person is responsible for teaching the choirboys the basics of piano playing, which includes note reading, proper fingerings, about the piano keyboard, etc. This person will lead the group piano lessons for the Junior Varsity Choir (Mondays in the Fall) and Training Choirs (Thursdays in the Spring).
In Addition: this person has shared responsibilities with the rest of the staff and must be able to commit to the following: monitoring good behavior, physical set-up and dismantling of music rooms, supervision/safety of the boys, chaperoning tours/special events for all choirs (as needed), communication amongst staff and with families, represent the organization well to the public, investigate professional development opportunities, support/contribute to the volunteer operations of the choir and agree/support the mission statement of the choir.


This person should have good accompanying skills, understand the role of the collaborative pianist in the rehearsal setting, and have good sight-reading skills; be able to teach group piano lessons on a variety of levels; have some vocal competency. In addition, this person needs to work well with children and adults; has good organizational skills; and can represent the organization well to the public.


Rehearsals: Mondays & Thursdays, as follows:

  • September – January: Mondays – 5:45 – 8:30 PM; No Thursdays
  • February – May/early-June: Mondays – 6:30 – 8:30 PM; Thursdays – 5:45 – 8:30 PM

All Concerts/Performances
Annual 5 to 7-day Tour (Typically May)
Additional rehearsals, camps, etc.


$240/month for 12 months

*Position could be split into two positions.
