The Director of Sacred Music is a full-time position and is supervised by the pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park, MN. The director is responsible for the overall execution of the church’s sacred music program, with a pastoral approach, in line with church documents and the pastor’s vision for sacred music. This individual oversees the professionally paid Schola as well as the Parish Choir and Youth Choir. In addition to regular liturgies and weddings/funerals, duties also include the preparing and coordinating of our seasonal concert series. It is preferred that candidates also be able to serve as organist, though the position can be split into two positions if two candidates in different areas of expertise (organ and choral conducting) are the best match.

Holy Family Catholic Church is a vibrant parish located in the beautiful Sorenson neighborhood of St. Louis Park, just a few minutes’ drive west of downtown Minneapolis. We also operate a grade school, Holy Family Academy (pre-K through 8th grade), providing a Catholic, classical curriculum. The liturgy at Holy Family is the “source and summit” of daily life as Catholic Christians. Our parish greatly values music’s essential contribution to enhancing the transcendence of liturgical life. To that end, Holy Family Church has a strong commitment to the entire treasury of the Church’s sacred music—both old and new. Gregorian chant is accorded a privileged and daily place in our liturgies. Polyphony—both Latin and vernacular—is also a staple of our Sunday worship. We enjoy robust congregational singing in both hymnody and chant.
